Almost Bound - 3D wall sculpture

Description

Hand constructed 3D wall sculpture made from found materials. Twigs woven with yellow, green, blue and orange rope strands sourced by hand from the coastline of Anglesey.

Backstory

I enjoyed the challenge of working with twigs. It was very difficult to get an even weave especially with the brittleness of the weathered rope I was tying together and twigs that wanted to move.

Separating the rope into single strands and using it to weave seemed to transforms it from a functional, manmade and aesthetically unappealing material into something delicate, even semi-precious and full of texture.

Mounted on 18 mm MDF with a recycled 'ring pull' hanger on the back.
