Sceptre - Handwoven wall sculpture

Description

Wall sculpture with tree stem handwoven with yellow rope threads sourced by hand from the coastline of Anglesey.

Backstory

I enjoyed making this piece, it was quite a slow and pleasurable process. As the stems were woven together, they started to bend with the tension of the rope threads giving the piece its gentle curved shape. The knots were made out of necessity as the threads were short but the protruding ends provide a pleasing contrast to the tension in the weaving.

Mounted on 12 mm MDF with a recycled 'ring pull' hanger on the back.
