Porth Cwyfan Bound - 3D abstract wall sculpture

Description

Hand-constructed wall sculpture made with found materials sourced by hand from the coastline of Anglesey. Metal plate and wood bound with orange rope thread.

Backstory

The elements of this piece are brought together using only three strands of rope and a simple stitch to keep the roofing felt in place. It took a lot of thinking about; what to attach first, to what and how? It has been reworked several times not least because the rope kept fraying and splitting against the metal when being pulled tight to knot.

Metal, roofing felt, rope and wood.

Mounting

Mounted on 6 mm MDF with a recycled 'ring pull' hanger on the back.
