King Maelgwn Gwynedd gave him the old Roman fort at Holyhead, Caer Gybi, "Cybi's Fort” where he created a large and monastery. In the 10th century it was sacked by Viking raiders and further damaged by Henry IV’s troops who invaded Anglesey to put down Owain Glyndŵr's uprising.
